My design of Fraulein Schneider includes a hair scarf. During my in class presentation my teacher told me to research into the type of elaborate head pieces used and what kind of knots were used to secure them. Just from looking through pinterest I immediately saw that head scarves were always around the front section of the head, leaving bits of hair to come down from underneath the scarf. The back would've also been left free to see the rest of the hairstyle. The scarves look as though they are always tied at the side. The knot was always elaborately secured, in knots that look like flowers and bows. The knots are an extension on the hairstyle. On the mood board this can be seen bottom left image, the knot is tied to replicate one of the curls. The bottom right image shows that the material has been left long, like the hair underneath. For ladies with short hair, the material is wrapped around the head, like the middle two images and then secured into a section of the wrapped material. My Fraulein Schneider hair design consists of curls at the front of the hair, the back section pinned up into curls with material separating the two sections. I have decided to work on creating a knot that compliments the front section of curls.
The second mood board shows the jewels that the 1920's are famous for. Beaded headpieces were mostly worn by the infamous flapper girls but also the rest of the public who looked up to performers as a source of inspiration for their own style. As Fraulein Schneider was of the older generation, I don't believe that the character would of looked up to the style from flapper girls. Therefore I am not going to incorporate elaborate pieces into the hair. Because Schneider was running the flat, cleaning all the time, I don't think that she would have had a glamorous appearance.
